Elaine (Lan Yin) Hsiao is the Global Challenges Fellow at the Sheffield Institute for International Development (SIID) and interdisciplinary legal scholar specializing in transboundary conservation areas, environmental peacebuilding and indigenous/community conservation. Currently, she is Co-Chairing the IUCN CEESP Theme on Environment and Peace, under which she established a Task Force on Environmental Change, Migration and Conflict, and is an Honorary Member of the ICCA Consortium. She has a PhD in Resource Management & Environmental Studies from the University of British Columbia's (UBC) Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability (IRES) and a JD and LLM in International and Environmental Law from Pace Law School.
